Name: Ping 478, The Dweller in the Deep, the Star Eater, Fred

Age: ???

Gender: ???

Breed: Gravity wyrm

Colour: Ultraviolet

Size: 75' long

Abilities:

  • Cosmic Entity: Gravity Wyrms exist in the vacuum of space and do not need to breathe, function so efficiently that their bodies do not produce waste, and they can feed on any matter or energy captured by their black hole. Gravity has such a negligible effect on them to consider wyrms immune to its pull and as such, they can "levitate" in any environment.

  • Gravity Well: Gravity Wyrms can create an intense gravitational pull centered on themselves. This ability increases with their age and size, potentially culminating in the implosion that some supermassive wyrms use to birth new black holes with their own death.

  • Stellar Song: The many senses of a Gravity Wyrm are intertwined so that they perceive what they call "the Song of the Universe", observing all things in a far more encompassing manner than ordinary creatures do.

  • Telepathy: The ability to communicate mind-to-mind. A wyrm's telepathy is deep and complicated, naturally entangling their Stellar Song within it.

  • Wyrmhole Travel: Gravity Wyrms can traverse vast distances by utilizing the wormholes that connect one black hole to another.

Personality: Inquisitive, playful, prankster. Little is known about Ping 478's true personality. They are only known by the few antics that have been captured by Barokian deep space recording technology. So far, that's been a game of ping pong between the satellites and occasionally sending the scientists some new sound that drives them into a tizzy for a few weeks.

Parents: ???

Origin: Deep Space

Biography:

Though considered an adult by their species, Ping 478 is still quite young. They are also eager to explore. Due to this, they have put their birth colony behind them in search of new entertainment and adventures.

For the time being, Ping 478 has settled near a black hole in a sector of space known as the Dragon's Eye Nebula. They have this black hole all to themselves, which is thrilling. They also has free, endless entertainment coming from a couple of worlds floating around a nearby star.

One of those worlds is Tris'Hath, and its Barokian scientists have made contact with Ping 478. Or rather, they've intercepted some of their songs and Ping 478 has been amused enough by their attempts to "communicate" with them to play into some of their tests. This is how they've earned their various names.

Fred is a personal favourite, as it appears to be a crowd sourced name given by amateur star gazers desperate to get a glimpse of his slick, black form gliding among the stars.
