Personality: Quiet, withdrawn, gentle. Kaylessa is a delicate soul. She dislikes loud noises and loud activities, and would happily spend her entire life in the library reading books if it was allowed. She is not one for crowds or engaging in social activities. Her favourite place in the world is in the boughs of a tree, isolated from everyone else.

Description: Thin, reedy, black hair, brown eyes. Kaylessa could easily be confused with a sapling if she stood still long enough. She is painfully thin with a prominent bone structure that borders on unhealthy. She keeps her long, black hair loose around her face. All the better to hide behind. She prefers to dress in long, covering robes and muted colours.

Biography:

Kaylessa was raised in the nomadic lifestyle of her people. Never settling in one place for too long took a toll on her early development, leading her to be highly suspicious of outsiders and anyone who lived in "houses." These houses could not be safe, she decided. No doubt they were just waiting snack boxes to any roaming hydras. Much safer to be out under the stars every night.

Born the only child to her parents, Kaylessa had to live with the paradoxical roles of being the singular hook upon which her parents hung all of their hopes and dreams for the future, while remaining their precious little baby who would never leave home. This was not an easy role to fill by any means. Even less so as she grew older and realized that the burden her parents placed on her shoulders could never be satisfied. She would never be able to be both successful and sheltered. The older she grew, the less she wanted to be sheltered anyway.

During the hydra war, a few of the younger members of her clan opted to break off from the larger group and seek out the Warren, intent on becoming dragon riders and returning with better defenses for their people. Kaylessa, though terrified out of her mind, quietly plotted to go with this group.

It was not an easy thing to betray her parents for the first time in her life. Several times as she packed, hid her supplies, then plotted her route out, she contemplated coming clean. In the end, one thought kept her going. She wanted to be her own person. She wanted it so badly she could taste it.

Kaylessa joined her peers for the harrowing journey to the Warren. Though the trip did not promise to be a long one, the threat of hydra attack was higher than it had ever been in her lifetime. Several times along the way, they had to hide from roving bands of hell hounds, airborne drasis, and the thunder of hydra feet.

Eventually the group made it to the Warren, and though not all of them were ultimately chosen to be dragon riders, Kaylessa was. And so her new life began.

This is the piece of her she fights so hard to protect. Only her bond knows the truth depth of her love.​
