Name: Dimia Redstream
Age: 15 years
Gender: female
Race: human (Tris'Hathian - Sudlanese)
Height: 5'6"
Personality: Pacifist, greedy, loyal. Dimia has one goal in life, and that's to break out of the cycle of poverty that has held her family captive for generations. She doesn't need to be rich rich (in fact, expensive things make her uncomfortable), but she wants to ensure that any generations that follow her will not have to worry about where their next meal comes from. Due to this, she comes across as miserly and stingy, when in reality it's anxiety ruling her heart. She will do anything to avoid a fight, and she loves her sister above all else in the world. These three things sometimes come into conflict.
Description: Black hair, gray eyes, flat build. Dimia could be a bodybuilder if she put some effort into it. As it is, her shape is flat, bulky, and not very feminine. She has very average features, and her only pride is her long, wavy black hair. She tends to dress in simple, well worn clothes. She walks with a limp and is deaf in her left ear.
Biography:
Dimia and her sister Juliana grew up in abject poverty in a little town along the border of the rift. Her father left when the girls were just babes, and her mother struggled every day to make ends meet. As the girls grew, they learned that they did not have the luxury of a carefree childhood. They began hustling with their mother as soon as they could walk, selling flowers on the corner and running errands for other families.
Dimia developed a very precise understanding of the value of money very early on. Anything that didn't need to go toward keeping them alive was squirrelled away for the dream of someday buying them out of this lifestyle. She took on every job available to her, no matter how demeaning, if it meant having so much as a single cent to take home at the end of the day. That was until someone offered to buy her sister.
Juliana was always the prettier of the two girls. With her sweet disposition and her easy way with people, it wasn't surprising that everyone fell in love with her. Yet most people seemed to understand that appreciating her and actually loving her were two separate ideas.
Not for Lord Kelfiz, a minor noble from out of town who became immediately stricken by Juliana's beauty. He offered their mother a great sum of money if he could take Juliana home to be his wife.
Dimia was not a combative soul. In fact, she found herself being taken advantage of quite regularly due to her habit of standing down from a fight. Yet this insult could not stand. When their mother took longer than a second to consider the offer, Dimia flew into a rage and attacked Lord Kelfiz. His body guards, two very large and very capable mercenaries, came to his aid.
The fight was quick and brutal. In the end, Dimia was left broken on the floor of their little hut, and Juliana was gone. The aftermath of the fight finally seemed to wake their mother from her stupor, and for the first time in her life, she fought back.
Dimia had no idea what happened in the hours that followed. She was too lost in a fog of agony from a broken leg and the blood pouring down her face. She clawed her way over to their dismal little washroom and did her best to clean herself up while sobbing relentlessly.
Hours later, their mother returned with Juliana. She too was now bloody and injured, but Juliana was alive and well. Their mother didn't give the girls any time to recover. Instructing Juliana to bind Dimia's leg, she packed up their meager belongings, and urged the girls to flee with her into the night.
It wasn't long before they began seeing posters go up for their arrest. A few short days after that terrible night, their mother sat the girls down and told them that they needed to split up. Dimia and Juliana were to go as far North as they could, while their mother attempted to throw off the trail of their pursuers.
The girls fought the plan and tears were shed, but in the end, they knew they had to do as they were told. The next day, their mother split off from them, and Juliana took the lead in taking them North.
A few days later, a dragon rider happened across the girls as they trekked the wilderness of Antiem. His dragon took an interest in them, and convinced the rider to carry the girls up to the Warren. Though they both showed great potential as dragon riders, they refused to go to any clutch separately. So it was they sat and waited until a clutch at Dawn Watch seemed promising. Now a new chapter begins.
