Name: Bulak Rockbasher
Age: 27 years
Gender: female
Race: Orc
Height: 6'2"
Personality: Focused, loyal, studious. Bulak is a quiet and introverted person. She has always preferred the company of books over people. Especially story books. She has a wild imagination and adores reading about new adventures and far off lands. She is also something of a stick in the mud, according to her peers. She has never stolen anything, fought anyone, or lied about anything without immediately admitting her guilt. She doesn't believe fun needs to come at the cost of someone else's happiness. She loves her parents dearly.
Description: Black hair, green eyes, green skin. Bulak has a square, solid frame. She is well muscled from her years of hauling, cutting, and packaging meat. Her features are plain, even by orcish standards, but not unattractive. She is just average in every sense of the word. She prefers to dress in muted colours and short, no-nonsense type clothing that doesn't impede her movement.
Biography:
Bulak grew up in a small, quiet village in Dhumar. These temperate reaches above the Dragon Tooth Mountains are far removed from the warfare and interplanetary intrigue of the five princelets. Though they have heard of the dragon riders, they are little more than rumour and folklore.
Bulak's father was much enamoured with the stories of the dragon riders of the south. He even claimed to have seen them flying overhead some years back. When Bulak was born, he passed on his love of these stories to his daughter. He also passed on his skills as a butcher and his wariness for humans.
Humans were greedy, selfish creatures who only ever thought of their own interests. Too often they harried the edges of their settlement, attempting to force the orcs out in order to claim the land for their own.
Yet no matter the warnings her parents imparted, Bulak never believed humans to be the terrifying, nightmarish monsters the rest of her people seemed to expect them to be. They couldn't all be bad. Many of them were dragon riders, after all.
As Bulak grew and matured in her peaceful community, she took on more and more work in her father's butcher shop. One particularly memorable morning, one of the old, wizened hunters who lived at the edge of the settlement came in for some fresh cuts. He had no coin to pay with, but offered an old treasure map instead.
Bulak was about to turn down the trade, knowing her father would be irritated at the loss of coin, when she noticed where the treasure map led to.
It did not just mark an X for the supposed riches, but showed a clear and navigable path through the mountains. If she could follow that path, then maybe she could meet the dragon riders herself.
Bulak accepted the trade, and the tongue lashing from her parents that evening. She turned their ire on its head moments later when she announced that she was leaving and intended to pass through the mountains.
Though her parents fought with her and called her plight foolish, Bulak would not be swayed. She packed her meager belongings, bid farewell to her parents and community, and set out on her very first adventure.
The journey to the mountains was long and perilous. The journey through them even more so. By the time she reached the point where the map indicated the treasure was supposed to be, she prayed she would find fresh food and water instead of gold and gems.
She found neither of those things. Instead, she found herself surrounded by hellish beasts. Already weak from her journey, she thought that might be the end of her. Until the literal manifestation of her childhood bedtime stories appeared in the skies overhead.
Dragon riders. Real dragon riders. And they were coming to her rescue! Bulak didn't care that they were humans. Their dragons were glorious. Even more so as their fire breath burned up the beasts attacking her.
After the rescue, Bulak accepted their aid in reaching the Warren to get some medical attention. While there, she met with one of the local search riders, who was curious about the woman his dragon kept pestering him about. Bulak was searched the same day, but told her candidacy would have to wait for her full recovery. That was the longest week of her life.
