A Letter from a Concerned Parent

Dear Dr. Schroeder,

I hope this letter finds you in better health than myself at this present time. My name is Thendra, rider of green Realith, third rank in the Vicesimus Secundus Wing. I really have no place in writing to you directly, so I would like to take a moment to express my deep gratitude to you if you should happen to take the time to read my letter.

That being said, I would like to bring to your attention an issue I encountered recently while visiting the Abstract Destiny with my daughter, Heleia.

All Hallow's Eve is a very important event in Lanutha. It is the celebration of life and acknowledgement of the dead that is practiced across our great princelet. On this sacred night, we come together as a community to feed the less fortunate, provide treats to the children, and revel in the old stories of fearsome beasts and ghosts. It's honestly one of my favourite holidays. So when we heard that your crew was participating in the celebration this year, I, and several other riders, were delighted to bring you into our festivities.

I came to the Abstract Destiny with my daughter and a number of other riders to participate in "trick or treat". That is, we go door to door and the children request a trick or a treat, which is then provided by the inhabitants. It's a great chance for the children to be delighted with frights or magic tricks, or else given a little sweet treat. I expected no less when we arrived. For the most part, all went very well. That was until we came to a room belonging to one "Aki."

I don't know who this entity is, but when she answered the door and my daughter requested a "trick," as she is wont to do, Aki deposited an egg in her hands.

Not a small egg. Not a chicken egg or a flit egg or even a snake egg. Any of those I could handle. No. She gave her a large "terigon" egg. I've never encountered the terigon before this. As it turns out, they are a sentient, small draconid species that are capable of bonding upon hatching.

They also have fur.

I apologize if this is familiar information to you, but I need to stress the fact that all creatures produce dander. I have no issues with dragon dander. I've lived with it my whole life. Furred creatures are a different matter. I am, as I discovered that night, very allergic to terigon fur.

I'd like you to know that Heleia and Maro, her new bond, are both very happy together. They've settled into the den well. I, on the other hand, am miserable. I'm waiting on an assessment from the local clerics to see if there's a magical solution to my problem. In the meantime, I thought it pertinent to write to you and inform you that living, sentient creatures do not constitute a treat on All Hallow's Eve. Please have this information shared among your residents.

Thank you very much for your time,

A concerned (and allergic) parent
